“Each human being, however small or weak, has something to bring to humanity. As we start to really get to know others, as we begin to listen to each other’s stories, things begin to change. We begin the movement from exclusion to inclusion, from fear to trust, from closedness to openness, from judgment and prejudice to forgiveness and understanding. It is a movement of the heart.”
– Jean Vanier
Warm Autumn Greetings Friend,
I hope the beginning of autumn has been treating you well. This season can often be a time of tumult, with feelings of confusion and disconnection constantly rising to the surface. I have to admit that I’ve been experiencing a harder transition than normal myself. With a busier than anticipated end of summer I did not make enough time for myself and for my practice and am feeling the effects of that now. But I know that NOW IS THE TIME to get to work. That includes taking time to be in our bodies- to feel its aches, its sorrow and its ease. It includes time for meditation, for cooking wholesome food, for daydreaming, and for taking long (and short) walks. It means looking at what things need to be shaken up a bit and what things need to be implemented or changed to find greater stability. And more than anything, it is the time to begin turning inward.
As we move further into the season of darkness, we need to invite the light and warmth of the summer into our deepest self. It can be hard some days to be present in our asana practice. It’s even harder to be present in your heart- every day. I’m reminded of a quote by Mirabei Bush- “It’s when someone’s heart is open that things begin to change.” During this season allow yourself time to rest, to breathe deeply and to be in your heart, so you can do the work that you know you have to do.

In Yin yoga we work to more deeply stretch the connective tissue creating more energy and a greater range of motion in the body. In Yang yoga we work to strengthen and lengthen the muscles by combining movement and breath in a flow sequence. Experiencing two styles of yoga in one practice, you will leave feeling refreshed, energized and grounded.
RESTORE FOR THE HOLIDAYS: A 4 Week Yoga Course
Runs November 14th- December 12th (no class Thanksgiving weekend)
We can often feel disconnected- from ourselves, from those around us, from the earth and its cycles. During the holiday season we sometimes move even further away from our center, forgetting what the season is truly about. Gratitude, peace, balance. We will work over the 4 weeks to gently move and open the body. We will rest in supported postures that help facilitate a deeper release. We will explore yogic themes that we often don’t take the time to discuss or integrate. We will allow through our practice to experience a more balanced and joyful holiday season. $85 per person. Pre-registration required.
