“I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise.”
~ Dawna Markova
This season is filled with scenes and smells that always feel too fleeting. If only we had more time! We know however that longing for something that will not be only causes suffering. So, we take what we can get and as my dear father always says, we do the best we can. We enjoy each day and remember what the practice teaches us every time we get on the mat…that nothing is permanent. Not our favorite season, not a pose that we love (or don’t love), not an argument with a loved one, not a presidency, not pain, not joy. There is much freedom in realizing and embracing that reality. So let the coming weeks be an opportunity to let go and to feel a deeper surrendering to what is.
I am excited about a few new opportunities for practice at ecce in November as well as a couple of upcoming communtiy building events! I hope you are able to try our new drop in classes which are happening every Wednesday and Saturday morning. Both Erika and Stephanie are passionate and caring teachers who will inspire and guide you safely in the practices of yoga and meditation. Gina will be offering her 4 week Mindfulness Meditation course starting Nov 1st and will be adding a Compassion practice to the course as well. My annual Holiday Restore course will begin Nov 12th and will run for 5 weeks (no class Thanksgiving weekend). Andrea will be offering a new weekly Cancer Care class on Monday mornings in addition to another 4 week introductory course starting in November for cancer survivors.
On Sunday October 30th, we will be gathering for our Song Circle! I am excited to be with all of you again to sing, reflect and be present together. No experience is required. Please don’t let a lack of singing background stop you. I’ve heard from many who attended last year that they found it to be a very moving and inspiring practice. We will also be showing a documentary film in November for anyone who wishes to join us for an evening of interesting ideas and discussion.
I wish all of you a very joyful and grounding October!
