Our Teachers

Keanna Ellsley

Keanna (she/they) was born in Canada and moved to the United States in 2013 to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Performance. About halfway through her degree, she discovered post-modern dance practices through her teachers Erika Berland and Wendell Beavers, who were dancers during the 1960's-1980's post-modern dance era in New York City. Their practices were rooted in Shambhala Buddhist meditation as led by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, founder of Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.

Keanna has trained with SITI Company of NYC in their Summer Intensive Suzuki Training for Actors and the Viewpoints as facilitated by Anne Bogart. She has attended several in-person and online intensive training, as well as performance opportunities through the Body-Mind Centering Association, where she even got to study from the founder of BMC, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen herself!

Keanna hopes to share the experiences and skills she has learned over the years from her teachers with you in her Contemplative Movement classes. She looks forward to meeting you soon!
